Reading fluency is important! - WHY?

Research by the National Reading Panel, 2000 and Kuhn & Stahl, 2003 suggest that guided oral reading approaches are effective to developing reading comprehension.  There are three components to fluency: 1) accuracy, 2) automaticity, and 3) prosody.
